After being condemned by the Jewish leaders, Jesus faced a trial before the Roman ruler, Pilate. This happened to fulfill the words he had spoken, about the death he would die. Pilate was not interested in Jewish religious questions, but in the end he handed Jesus over to be crucified, and freed a murderer in his place. This passage shows us the path that the Saviour took to the cross - and a marvelous picture of the good news for sinners.
